Types of Data
- Structured data
- Definition: well-defined structure and represented in a tabular manner with rows and columns.
- Stored in: SQL databases, online transaction processing, spreadsheets, online forms, sensors GPS and RFID, Network and web server logs.
- Semi-structured data
- Definition: some organizational properties but lacks a fixed or rigid schema and contains tags or metadata.
- Stored in: e-mails, XML and other markup languages, binary executables, TCP/IP packets, zipped files, integration of data from diff sources.
- Unstructured data
- Definition: not follow any particular format, sequence, semantics, or rules and not have easily identifiable structure.
- Stored in: web pages, social media feeds, images in varied file formats, video and sudio files, documents and PDF files, PPT, media logs, surveys.
